Valérie Roy Appointed Regional Director of Philanthropy for Quebec

May 29, 2024

We are pleased to announce that Valérie Roy will be joining the L’Arche Canada Foundation team as regional director of philanthropy for Quebec. She will take up her duties in June 2024.

Valérie has extensive experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, notably as a recreation leader, volunteer, and special educator. Her involvement with L’Arche goes back some twenty years, when she went to live at L’Arche Winnipeg. Over the years, she has taken on various responsibilities at L’Arche, including those of AAQ administrator and Quebec development consultant for L’Arche Canada.

With a bachelor’s degree in cultural animation and research from the Université du Québec à Montréal, Valérie has put her knowledge to good use in a variety of roles, including communications coordinator at the Association québécoise de l’industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo (ADISQ). The Galas she organized with her team there gave her the opportunity to develop skills in public relations and project and sponsorship management.

Valérie also served as political advisor to Véronique Hivon, Member of the Quebec National Assembly for Joliette – a role that, for eight years, saw her forge strong links with the community, develop her ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders and exercise strategic leadership.

For Valérie, taking on this philanthropic role was the next logical step on her career path.

There’s no place like L’Arche. When I go to la Source, I go to Lucie’s house. When I go to la Barque, François welcomes me into his home. L’Arche must continue to offer such unique and essential living environments. Using my skills to maintain and develop such a relevant and rich project gives deep meaning to my life and that of my family.
