Inclusive Housing

Improved Access to Housing Supports & Information

What we learned

In New Brunswick, housing, income, and disability supports are three separate provincial government programs. This leaves citizens navigating multiple intake streams, repeating information, and it creates confusion. Problems that were raised during the Lab included:

  •  There is a need for support to help people secure and sustain housing as well as community connections
  • Access to supports and housing is siloed, confusing and overwhelming
  • An aging population (and aging caregivers)

Actions prioritaires de notre feuille de route

Priority Action 1

Create Fredericton Resource Directory on available supports and housing options.

Priority Action 2

Ensure individual housing planning and navigation supports for everyone with intellectual disabilities who wants them.

To achieve this:

  • Support the design and testing of a new intake process at the provincial Social Development department.
  • Explore and test additional ways to deliver personal supports for housing planning and navigation to everyone who want them.
