Lethbridge - Two Community members on a swing

Lethbridge is one of the warmest and sunniest cities in Canada. With a population of 100,000, Lethbridge has a friendliness and community spirit often associated with smaller cities, with many of the educational and recreational opportunities found in larger cities.

L’Arche Lethbridge opened its first home, Chinook House, on November 1, 1991. Ruah House was opened on March 29, 1999. (“Ruah” is a Hebrew word meaning “wind” or “spirit”.) The third home opened on September 28, 2013 and was named “Amani” (peace in Swahili). Four adults with intellectual disabilities and three or four assistants live in each home. Like the city of Lethbridge, the community is relatively small. They gather together on a regular basis for prayer nights, community nights, celebrations – or just because they want to!
