| | News > Communities News | | Alternative Spring Break at L'Arche Cape Breton | | | Jenn Power |  L'Arche Cape Breton has embarked on an exciting partnership with the Peace and Justice program of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Xavier University is a private, coeducational university providing a liberal arts education in the Catholic, Jesuit tradition. In 2009, students in the Developmental Psychology program will spend a week at L'Arche Cape Breton for an "Alternative Spring Break" service learning experience. They hope to complement their classroom learning with the wisdom and experience of intentional, simple community life with people with disabilities in rural Cape Breton.
This experience is offered through the Peace & Justice programs at Xavier University, which seek to educate, empower and affirm a community interested in building a more compassionate, just world through social action and community service.
